Stereotypical Monday& st. bernard puppies!

Whenever I hear Monday, my first reaction is usually to cringe. Monday means the weekend is over and I probably have an over scheduled week. I'm terrible at saying no, and usually end up running from one commitment to the next. Though today was pretty much like any other Monday, it turned out not being as awful as I thought. On my way to the library I discovered einsteins is open until 8:15 pm. Yeah blended mocha coffee caffeine sugar goodness!! And I happened to run into the CUTEST St.Bernard puppies! With sugar in hand and a puppy licking me, I couldn't help but think it wasn't such a bad day after all.

king ranch chicken

Yum, yum, yum! King ranch chicken is one of my favorite easy-to-make casseroles. My boyfriend and I go to our friends' house to cook dinner on the weekends. They have an adorable little baby who prefers to stay home for dinner time at this age! I got this recipe from homesick texan, but there are many variations on the internet.
I forgot to take a picture before we devoured it!
miss anabelle was very tired but didn't want to miss anything going on, so she set up camp in the kitchen!

wishlist of the day

so cute for summer!

my best friend kealy featured these on her blog Sugar Magnolia!

These would look so cute with summer dresses.

motivation, thinspiration, and reality

Let's face it, most of us want to be as tiny and skinny as all of the models gracing the covers of our favorite gossip and fashion magazines. We all have the ability to be that tiny, but we have to remember that it is their job to be tiny, and being that small is not always healthy. I know that I personally have weeks where I am miss fitness and others where I just want to eat pasta and sweets! I have found that the best way to balance is to not deprive yourself, but don't eat in huge portions! Have a bite or two... not the whole thing!
Exercise is also extremely important. There is no substitute for hitting the treadmill and getting your heart pumping. The treadmill can become very boring, so find some kind of exercise that is fun and exciting! I mentioned in a previous post I tried bpm a reformer machine pilates class. Let me tell you, I loved it! I am going back tomorrow morning in fact!

the bottom line is ... eat small portions, don't get frustrated, and get your heart pumping!
You will look beautiful in those skinny jeans before you know it.

Cali Style!

This past week, my dad was very fortunate to get a wonderful job in Santa Barbara! We have been here many times in the past and I could not be more excited about going back. California is much more laid back then both Dallas and West Palm Beach. I am going to be spending the next two months looking for some comfy cali-style worthy clothes! The mornings are often a little chilly, but by the afternoon it is beautiful out. Hoodies and shorts are usually a safe bet to get you through the day!

spaghetti squash primavera

I will be the first to admit I am a pasta lover. But... in my recent attempts to reduce unneeded carbs, I have been substituting spaghetti squash for pasta. It is really easy to prepare and has a similar consistency and shape to spaghetti. I have found that using some type of red sauce creates the closest flavor experience to that of real pasta. When I was at the gym watching Food network the other day, I ran across this recipe for spaghetti squash primavera. Looks delish!

Pilates!

Over spring break, my mom and I went to a Pilates mat reformer class and boy was I sore the next day! I decided to look for a class here in dallas and found BPM. This cute little studio is located on Hillcrest Ave. really close to SMU! How convenient! This Pilates class combines cardio and strength training. It sure does beat hitting the treadmill everyday!

And of course, you need cute clothes to work out in! Lululemon has some really cute workout tanks that are a little looser around your stomach so you aren't self-conscious while you are working out.
Don't forget to stay hydrated!

Back again!

Whew! Time sure has flown. I can't believe I have been so busy these past few months, but since cheerleading season is over I have plenty of time to do fun stuff! I am going to focus these next few months on health, fashion, and places to visit!
